Do you think Christmas has lost it's true meaning?

These days, Jesus Christ has very little to do with Christmas anymore. Do you think that is because of the Atheists or other religions over-riding the Christianity faith?

I believe it is. Although of course, there are many Christians out there who still celebrate the true meaning of Christmas.

I also think that children should be taught about the meaning of Christmas at primary school. Not to get them to believe or become a Christian, but to understand why we have it. Many children just think of presents, and Father Christmas.

So, do you believe Christmas has lost it's true meaning?Do you think Christmas has lost it's true meaning?
It is true that many of the people who celebrate Christmas nowadays don't really truely deeply believe in God. Although I love the colored way it is celebrated today. It is so much fun, there are so many things you can do today. We live in a different age, times had changed. We had grown up in the world we know today and I don't think that we would really enjoy the Christmas our grandmas lived. Honestly, would you like to recieve only fruits as a gift instead of something that you longed for? Is good to keep the meaning in our hearts, but let's live in the present.

Do you think Christmas has lost it's true meaning?
I think that the meaning of Christmas is in the hearts of those who love Jesus and honor Him. That cannot be lost. Let it be an impetus to share the ';real meaning';, not by loud proclamations or protests, but by sharing the real Christmas meaning with all, ';Jesus' love';
I really really do.

Just take a look at all the questions in this category...there are tons of questions asking ';what should i get for christmas?';, ';what do i get my boyfriend?'; etc. And I mean no offense to the folks asking those questions...but Christmas is not at all about gifts.

I feel very thankful that I was raised in a family that celebrated the season..not the gifts

Merry Christmas All!
Christmas has definetly lost its true meaning. Hardly anyone goes to church on Christmas morning these days. Its as if people have forgotten that Christmas is a celebration of Jesus' birth and life. Its all about commercialism and materialism these days.
Christmas has become a staple of a fiscal year for major companies. And they are only interested in making money.

My family, I believe, is the only family who goes to Church on Christmas Eve. (I hope there are more families who do this).

God bless.

Not if you don't let it be lost. We do Santa and so forth but we also have more than one Nativity scene and my son has a book that explains it in a way that he can understand.
Christmas is about santa, toys, mistle toe, hot coa coa, and family. If you want to get into the jesus stuff, go ahead but don't bring it into primary schools.
i think christmas has lost its meaning by alot

all kids think about is toys

this has made the society a greety

Som people donteven know the story or what christmas even means
it has!!!! im only 13 but my parents always tell about their christmas when they were little- its so much simpler

heres how we do it now:

my parents love to buy presents but they also make sure that i know why im celebrating christmas

~its about togetherness- my mom and dad never work from christmas to new years. they spend the whole days together

~and jesus- we have a manger scene for decoration in our house

~church- we always go to church on christmas eve

but we also like to keep traditions like watching rudolph the rednosed reigndeer and having a tree, stockings, putting out milk and cookies on christmas eve, and a lot more

so i think that my family tries to keep the meaning of christmas alive.

*the true meaning of christmas will never die, it just gets smaller and smaller every year. its up to us to bring it back, which i hope we do someday!

Merry Christmas!!!
