What do you understand to be the true meaning of hope?

I believe hope is the basis for everything In life. It started with your parents and there parents,so forth.They hoped one day that they would have children,you are the result.I believe hope, is the key to shaping who we are and our future. we to hope one day that we will have children. we hope one day that we will be success full in life and be wealthy . we hope that everything that we have ever prayed for will one day come true. wee hope that we will survive today and that we will wake up the next morning and live another. everything we hope for may not happen all of a sudden.thats were the trick is you still hope. it will happen, and you still believe it would happen. hope makes us who we are, what we will become and how our lives will play out. with out hope how could a person live? what would that person be?What do you understand to be the true meaning of hope?
The knowledge that the universe will generaly provide a good to excelent outcome to even the most tragic events, if those events are looked at with an optimistic eye.


Such as: Even the tragedy of 9-11 brought out the best and most unselfish attributes of many people, people willing to sacrifice their own health and well being to help others. This kind of thing happens in almost every tragic or unfortunate event. Hope is knowing that good can rise over evil or misfortune.What do you understand to be the true meaning of hope?
I believe that Hope is the inexplicable empowerment that enables us to move successfully from challenge to resolution with courage. It鈥檚 more than just wishful thinking; it鈥檚 the guarantee that there鈥檚 light at the end of whatever tunnel we鈥檙e trying to find our way through. I read this from Beth Hollaway's book about Natalee Holloway when she went missing in Aruba. Hope is what has gotten her through everything. I loved how she explained it.

AND. The meaning of it is motivation - we are motivated to reach the point of which we're hopeful, and once we're there, we hope of something else. It allows us to progress, but it takes faith and courage to hope. Not all people hope, in fear that they might be disappointed.
Hope is essentially a belief that the situation will improve, or the *good guy* will win, if you will, in the face of extreme adversity. It's essentially beleiving good will come in a bad situation, and being strong because of that belief.

What you are describing are the manifestations and results of hope, not the meaning of it.

Hope is the stepping stone to belief/faith. Belief/faith is much stronger than hope. Hope implies a maybe-maybe not scenario; more like a 50/50% chance. Whereas belief/faith is certainty - 100%.
I hope you're right! lol. I think i get what you are saying, and i like the message you are trying to give.
Hope is a tool. You can use it to grow, or use it to cripple yourself.
The true meaning of hope is that there's more out there
