Because I'm always researching and it said in a article thats if you take a strand of har and put it in a cup of water and floats its healthy and if it doesnt it damaged. Well I tried it and my hair sunk...Is it true, if you put a strand of hair in a cup of water and it floats it means you hair is healthy??
i've never heard that but it could be true.
damaged hair is porous, meaning the cuticle(outer layer of a hair strand) is wide open due to several chemical treatments or thermal styling.
healthy hair is not porous, the cuticle is closed and almost virgin, or virgin.
water and other chemicals soak into the hair easier and faster than virgin hair since the cuticle is already open.
so it might be true.
at one point or another the healthy will have to go to the bottom of the cup since the water will enter the cuticle after a while. Is it true, if you put a strand of hair in a cup of water and it floats it means you hair is healthy??
haha iv just tried it and half floats half sinks (im guessing its where i havent dyed my hair in ages the top of my hair is all healthy n floats n the bottom is all damaged)
i kinda made sense there lol
I don't see why it wouldn't be true. did you try checking the credibility of the resource? I just tried it for you and mine floated, and i've always had very healthy hair. It might be true!
Yes, I have heard that several times. It's because if your hair needs moisture is will absorb the water and sink. And, if it doesn't then it will float..
no way its not true coz nth flout unless its wood or sth like that so maybe the meaning is beyond the word
