At the time of Ibrahim (as) the people used to worship idols and celestial bodies (stars, planets and the moon).
';When the night covered him over with darkness he saw a star. He said: ';This is my lord.'; But when it set, he said: ';I like not that those who set.'; When he saw the moon rising up he said: ';This is my lord.'; but when it set he said: ';Unless my Lord guides me, I shall surely be among the erring people.'; When he saw the sun rising up he said: ';This is my lord, This is greater.'; But when it set, he said: ';O my people! I am indeed free from all that you join as partners in worship with Allâh.';
What did Ibrahim (as) truly mean and find from this?
SalamRamadan:What is the true meaning behind this?
Salam,
'; I love not those that set.“ Qur’an, 6:76.
I think this verse is explaining the meaning.By the previous verses,Quran makes an introduction to tawheed. And explained this fact to humanity:
Those who set are not liable to worship.
A beloved who is hidden through setting is not beautiful, for those doomed to decline cannot be truly beautiful. They may not loved with the heart, which is created for eternal love and is the mirror of the Eternally Besought One, and should not be loved with it.
A desired one who is doomed to be lost on setting; such a one is not worthy of the heart’s attachment, the mind’s preoccupation. He may not be the object of desires. He is not worthy of being regretted with the sorrow and grief that follows. So why should the heart worship such a one and be bound to him?
One sought who is lost in ephemerality; I do not want such a one. For I am ephemeral, I do not want one who is thus. What should I do?
A worshipped one who is buried in death; I shall not call him, I shall not seek refuge with him. For I am infinitely needy and impotent. One who is impotent can find no cure for my boundless ills. He can spread no salve on my eternal wounds. How can one who cannot save himself from death be an object of worship?Ramadan:What is the true meaning behind this?
The celestial bodies worshipers stars moon and suns were nothing
when the star came He(as) thought this it, the one, it soon disappeared
when the moon cameHe(as) thought this it the one, it soon disappeared
when the sun came He(as) thought this it the one, it soon disappeared
He(as) figured out all these were fake and could not be true
The one does not just come and go. The one has to always be there. Allah swt was Always there.
Can we say that Ramadan traps the shytan! LOL!
Allah of course!

It is reference and guide for the people not to worship idols that come in triumvirates such as Lat Manat and Uzza, or Abu Sufyan, Muawiya and Yazid. Desist for the evil that you spread through the lands for there will come a day of reckoning and you shall be raised with your idols (Abu Sufyan, Muawiya and Yazid) and they will be of no avail...
its a prefix to the misguided, of which you may be one
