I don't understand the ';true'; meaning of Christmas. I see it as pointless.?

I know it's about Jesus' birth and about sharing and family and stuff, but if you're Christian shouldn't you give, try to be cheerful, and celebrate Jesus' birth everyday? And by celebrate I mean just to be thankful and appreciate it.

Also, why would you give a friend something they really don't need and most likely don't like instead of donating to a shelter. Why once a year? If I see something I know my friend would appreciate and I have the cash I'd most likely get it,

And again why should you have to BUY things to prove anything?I don't understand the ';true'; meaning of Christmas. I see it as pointless.?
Yes, you should keep the Christmas spirit all year long. Some are better at that then others. The gift giving is more like The three wise men gave Jesus gifts, so now we give each other gifts to show them how much they mean to us. Many folks buy for their friends even if it鈥檚 not a b-day or some holiday. No one is proving anything. Some folks just like to give. Why not give a gift and work at the shelter.

I personally don鈥檛 like the gift giving and all the other commercial traps. It's just too stressful for me. Just a nice dinner with family and friends is always a good idea.I don't understand the ';true'; meaning of Christmas. I see it as pointless.?
The true meaning of christmas is the birth of baby jesus. There was never a rule that said you had buy gifts for everyone, if you really wanyed to show you care make a home made gift that way you don't have to spend your money. You can make cookies, cards, or other little gifts. The real meaning will the fact that jesus is born. All you really have to do is show everyone you really love and care about them. And remember you could always donate the gifts you get.

I hope this helps, if it doesn't sorry.
The true meaning of Christmas isn't buying something. Christmas is about learning about Jesus's birth, having a day of rest, and thinking a LOT about Jesus's birth and sharing. We don't often get to chill out and do that, even we Christians, so Christmas is a special day.
I think you do understand and other people have lost the meaning of christamas. gift giving came from the giving of the gold, frankincense, and myrrh. As nice as it is to give Christmas is just another materialistic holiday
Typically, the meaning of christmas is that sharing conquers all.

If we share, we cannot be stopped basically.
Well, I believe gift giving to be symbolic of the fact Jesus supossedly received gifts.
well u worship and be thankful for what you get and it olny happens 1ce a year so that way u r happy that year
Was Jesus born on Christmas day?

You celebrate Jesus' birth on Christmas, but no one really knows what day Jesus was born, or even exactly what year. In 336 A.D., the Western Church, based in Rome, chose December 25 to celebrate as Christmas, meaning ';Christ's Mass.'; The Eastern Church chose January 6. The day was named Epiphany, meaning ';appearance.'; Eventually the period from December 25 to January 6 became known as the Twelve Days of Christmas.

Alot of Christians have forgotten or dont care about the true meaning of christmas..there is no meaning to it...it is all ';materealism'; now. Which is quite pathetic...Christianity is fading into Worldliness along with many other religions. People have reformed religion to satisfy their needs. When that happens, then the world is no longer religious, it beomes cultural.
