Ok, as crazy as this sounds, does anyone else feel that for as screwed up as the US is and as many morals we lack (as other would say) that we take marriage the most seriously. Too many countries and cultures around the world seem to think marriage isn't anything but marrying a woman to have children.
I get asked so many times if I actually love my husband and does he honestly love me, how many bf's or gf's do him or i have on the side, is it a love marriage or arranged, am I the only wife...
I have a hard time digesting this. Then I have many men telling me to stop being naive and my husband is and will cheat on me... this coming from someone who lives in a foreign country that doesn't even know my marriage. I'm just shocked and it seems like Americans are one of the few people that actually believe marriage is something more than a thing.Does anyone feel the USA actually honors the true meaning of marriage?
You probably believe that because marriage in the US is based on puritanical beliefs. Marriage is and always has been a social custom. You can examine this by looking at the history of marriage. Marriage was happening before Christianity came about (there were Buddhists getting married as well as Greeks and Romans).
After Christianity came along, marriages were still on going, although the ceremonies changed subtly as the cultures changed. Romans were getting married before and after their society converted to the christian religion.
It could be argued that the US has marriage defined in a broken manner, and other countries have marriage defined properly.Does anyone feel the USA actually honors the true meaning of marriage?
One out of every two marriages in the United States fails.
I'm not sure what your question is since your writing is a bit muddled but whether or not marriage is honored has to do within the two people that made the commitment not the country.
